A full range of family planning services is offered by the practice or by referral to local providers. Appointments are by arrangement and should be discussed with a doctor.
Gynaecology And Cervical Screening
Cervical smears are offered to all patients up to the age of 64 years. Appointments are arranged either with the female partners or with the practice nurses in conjunction with the individual GP. Smears are advised every three years in accordance with the National Screening Programme.
Antenatal and postnatal clinics are run by three of the partners in conjunction with an attached midwife who is involved with both antenatal and postnatal care. Though home confinements are not covered by this practice, there is a full postnatal visiting service for mothers who are discharged from the hospital shortly after delivery as well as those who require a slightly longer stay in hospital. If you think that you are pregnant you should carry out a home pregnancy test and see a doctor as soon as possible so that they can make the necessary arrangements for your care.
Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT)
Please make an appointment to see a doctor for advice regarding this treatment.
All patients aged between 50 and 64 years are invited through their GP surgery to take part in the National Breast Screening Programme. Invitations are sent to patients on a regular basis every three years. Any woman over 64 is welcome to continue with or join the screening programme and should consult their own doctor regarding this service.
