Appointments

We run an appointment system and appointments can be made by phone (01895 231925) or in person. To maintain continuity of care it is best that each member of the family consults with the same doctor each time, therefore even though you are actually a patient of the practice you will be registered with an individual doctor who is taking on new patients at your time of registration. You may be asked to see another doctor if you have a particular medical problem such as asthma or diabetes and female patients may request to see a lady doctor for strictly female health problems.

We have a wheelchair/pushchair access ramp into the surgery, but due to the health and safety concerns for all patients we no longer allow large mobility scooters passed the entrance lobby. If you require assistance after leaving your mobility scooter we can provide a wheel chair.

If more than one member of your family wishes to be seen, please make a separate appointment for each of them.

Children under the age of 16 years should be accompanied by an adult.

A routine appointment will be booked for 10 minutes. Appointments for special reasons, eg: smears, minor operations, etc are allocated more time.  If you feel you are going to need more than 10 minutes please inform the reception staff when booking your appointment.

A routine appointment to see your own doctor will normally be offered within two days unless the doctor is very busy. However, if you are asked to attend one of our clinics they may be fully booked several weeks in advance. Please give as much notice as possible for a routine appointment as this will allow the receptionist to offer a much wider choice of times.

If you cannot keep your appointment with any member of the health team, please let us know as soon as possible so that it can be offered to someone else. Please arrive promptly. We will endeavour to see you on time but your appointment may be cancelled if you arrive late.

If you require an URGENT APPOINTMENT because you consider your condition to be an emergency, you will be able to see a doctor that same day but it may not be your usual doctor. Please be prepared to give details of your problem to the receptionist. She will not be able to give you advice but may speak to the doctor so that he may decide on an appropriate time to see you. Usually you will be asked to attend at the beginning or end of surgery and requested to wait.

Telephone Advice

If you feel you need advice on a medical problem you are welcome to telephone towards the end of morning surgery to speak to your usual doctor.
