RGN, BSc (hons) Nurse practitioner in Primary Care, Non Medical Prescriber
Each has specialised roles apart from their general nursing skills and they liaise extensively with our attached district nurses. One nurse is the elderly care liaison nurse, responsible for the annual health check of all patients over the age of 75. All our nurses are qualified to change dressings, remove stitches, syringe ears, give injections, perform ECGs, treat minor injuries/illness, prescribing and give advice on a wide range of health related issues including heart disease prevention, travel advice and smoking.
Healthcare assistants support practice nurses with their daily work and carry out tasks such as phlebotomy (drawing blood), blood pressure measurement and new patient checks. They may act as a chaperone when a patient or doctor requests one.
